This Saturday is full of events for Mira Mesa residents. The Philippine Faire 2009 will take place from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Westfield Plaza Bonita in National City. The Cultural Parade starts at 9:30 along Plaza Bonita Road. This is a free event which was held in Mira Mesa last year, and will feature booths and exhibits on Philippine history, art, and culture. For more information, visit the website at www.copao-sandiego.org.
The Mira Mesa Town Council will be hosting their annual Volunteer of the Year Dinner at the MCAS Miramar Commissioned Officers Club honoring Ted Brengel for his years of service to our community. Although the theme is black and white, it is not a formal event and the public is welcome to attend. The tickets for the VOTY Dinner are only $25 per person, and you must purchase your tickets before the event due to security issues since the event is held on base. Contact the Mira Mesa Town Council to purchase your tickets.
Monday night is the first of June, and as usual there will be a Town Council meeting at the Mira Mesa Library at 7:00 p.m. If you want to know what is happening in Mira Mesa, you should attend the monthly meetings. Tonight will feature a presentation by School Board member John de Beck on a proposal to split the San Diego Unified School District into two districts. The public is welcome to attend this meeting.
