This week in Mira Mesa: Super Bowl XLIII will feature the Arizona Cardinals -vs- Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, February 1. Callahan’s Pub & Brewery is a great place to watch the game, and enjoy some great food and the largest selection of draft beer in Mira Mesa. The kickoff starts at approximately 3:28 p.m. and will be televised on NBC Channel 7/39. With Super Bowl tickets starting at $1500 each, save your money and watch the game at Callahan’s! The Mira Mesa Banned Book Discussion Group meets Monday, January 26 at the Mira Mesa Branch Library at 7:00 p.m. For information, call (858) 538-8165.
Cub Scout Pack 1203 is holding their monthly pack meeting Tuesday, January 27 at Ericson Elementary School in the multi-purpose room from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. If you want to get involved in with the Cub Scouts in Mira Mesa, visit the website at www.cubscoutpack1203.org, or attend the meeting. They are looking to build the 3rd and 4th grade cub packs, and could use your participation.

The Flash Weekly update for January 12-18: The Tet Festival is this weekend in Mira Mesa! The Tet Festival will feature a variety of live entertainment such as Asian-themed dancers and drummers, traditional and contemporary musicians, martial artists, magicians, sport tournaments, Chinese chess tournament, Vietnamese traditional dress (áo dài) fashion show, art and floral exhibits, dancing contest, Asian-Pacific dance troupes, and delicious Vietnamese and Asian cuisine.
This year, Tet Festival will be held at Mira Mesa Community Park for the first time, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Saturday January 17 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Sunday January 18 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

The Mira Mesa Epicentre is having their 10-year anniversary open house on April 17th, and they are searching for an organization or business that would like to sponsor the event. If you or your business would like to provide food, recognition plaques, or other items which would help make this event a success, please contact Meredith Foellmi, Youth Programs Director at 858-271-4000 x 10.
Also creeping up on us is the annual Casino Night Fundraiser, with proceeds going to help fund the 4th of July Fireworks. Your Business or Organization can sponsor a gaming table, and help us to raise enough money to keep the fireworks going again this year. You will receive valuable advertising of your business or group, passes to the event, food and gaming tokens, as well as your name on the tickets and programs.
