When: Saturday, May 16, 2009 8:00 a.m.
The Ron Roberts sponsored “Mowing Down Pollution” event on May 16, 2009, will make available up to 459 cordless, rechargeable, electric lawn mowers for San Diego County residents. At the event, residents turn in their completely equipped and operable gasoline lawn mower with the fuel and oil removed. After the mower has been accepted for exchange, residents receive a new Black & Decker cordless electric lawn mower for $150. All of the old mowers turned in during the event are removed for recycling.
Since there is a limited number of electric mowers to trade in, it is recommended that you arrive early (6:00 a.m. if you want the best chance of getting one) and you can bring a chair with you to make the wait a little easier. The trade in begins at 8:00 a.m. and goes until they run out of electric mowers to trade in. Your mower needs to have all working parts, such as 4 wheels, grass catcher, pull cord, etc. Non working junkers will not be accepted. Prior to the exchange, you should also remove all gasoline and oil from the mower, as these will be used for recycling. The value of the new rechargeable cordless electric Black & Decker mowers is $399, so by turning in your old one and paying only $150 you will be making the deal of the century and helping reduce air pollution in the process. Now that is a win-win situation.
