Celebrate the Fourth of July with your family and friends in Mira Mesa!

Mira Mesa FireworksEvents include: A Pancake Breakfast, The Fun Day at the Park at the Gil Johnson Community Park and Recreation Center, followed by a Community Parade, and ending with a Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular.

The Pancake Breakfast runs from 7:00 a.m. through 11:00 a.m. at the Mira Mesa Epicentre, 8450 Mira Mesa Blvd. It is sponsored by the Black Mountain Masonic Lodge #845. The cost is $5.00 per person.

The Fun Day at the Park begins at 10:00 a.m. and continues throughout the day, with games for the kids, food, rides, and community booths featuring many of our local businesses. The location is the Gil Johnson Community Park and Recreation Center, across from Mira Mesa High School.

The 34th Annual Fourth of July Parade, featuring: floats, marching bands, and entertainment, starts at approximately 11:30 a.m. and runs along Mira Mesa Blvd. from Greenford Drive to Camino Ruiz. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Our Community”.

The Fourth of July Fireworks, sponsored by the Mira Mesa Community Fourth of July Committee and its sister nonprofit group, Scripps Mesa Fireworks, Inc. will begin at approximately 9:00 p.m. from the Mira Mesa High School Fields. The fireworks display can be enjoyed from locations, such as the Community Park and seen from as far away as Miramar Lake in Scripps Ranch.

The fireworks display is funded completely through donations, and both donations and volunteers are always greatly appreciated. To give your support, send donations to: Mira Mesa Community Fourth of July Committee, PO Box 261264, San Diego, CA. 92196.

Be sure to look for us in the Fourth of July Parade. We will keep you cool during the parade with free water bottles, and handing out t-shirts and Frisbees.

4th of July at the Mira Mesa Park ChecklistAre you planning on heading up to the Rec Center to celebrate the 4th of July this year? It is one of our favorite holidays of the year and we like to make a day out of it. We have about 20 or 30 friends show up, and more stop by throughout the day. Below is our checklist for what we bring to the park. Hopefully it can help you in planning your celebration.

Please do us a favor and add anything you can think of that we might have forgotten about in the comments section below and tell us your plans for the 4th.

CHECKLIST

- Cell phone (always come in handy)
- Cooler and Ice
- Folding tables (very limited amount of tables at park)
- Table clothes
- Favorite beverages
- Case of water
- Food

  • Burgers
  • Hot dogs
  • Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, salt & pepper)
  • Buns (Hot dog and hamburger)
  • Chips
  • Carne Asada
  • Tortillas
  • Salsa
  • Potato salad
  • Watermelon
  • Desserts (cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc…)

- Grill (don’t forget to check propane | or charcoal and lighter fluid)
- Matches (for grill)

MMHS Grad, Now Record Company CEO Promotes San Diego Music Event

Quietly Building Their Fan Bases These Talented Filipino’s are Establishing Themselves Within the San Diego Music Community.

Baby Back Entertainment and MidCity Records in association with TBF Entertainment Group are proud to put together a night of R&B and soul music at the Hot Monkey Love Café. The show is an all age event held March 28th 2008 doors open at 7pm. Hot Monkey Love Café is located at 6875 Suite B El Cajon Boulevard San Diego Ca, 92115. Tickets are on sale now at the venue box office $8 pre-salNoly and Marlon DaneNoly and Marlon Danee and $10 the day of the show. Performing that night will be the R&B sensation Noly, San Diego’s R&B/Pop mainstay Marlon Dane, emerging R&B singer Kim Llarenas, and introducing soulful teen sisters Sam and Alex. Noly’s music can be described in one word “eclecticurbanflow”. He fuses elements of urban music with classic and contemporary R&B. This singer/ songwriter’s smooth vocals are set to soulful music performed by his band. This formula has led to shows with nationally known acts such as Tyrese and Ginuwine. He is a stage veteran who has performed throughout Southern California drawing comparisons to John B, Maxwell, and D’angelo. Marlon Dane is a fresh blend of pop and R&B. Recently he has shared the stage with Platinum recording artist Frankie J whom he has often been compared to. This entertainer makes sure to give a great stage performance from start to finish. Marlon Dane’s self entitled CD will be available early summer 2008 with several scheduled performances planned for the release. Kim Llarenas and the sisters will be performing covers from some of today’s hottest R&B singers.
