Thanks for the information. Me and my girlfriend just moved here last month and were wondering if Mira Mesa had fireworks. Is the parade and the fun day worth going to? Do a lot of people attend?
Great website by the way.

Hi Greg,
Welcome to the neighborhood! Mira Mesa is a GREAT place to live
As far as the Parade and Fun Day… YES, they are definitely worth going to. I believe we get about 10,000 people lining the streets to watch the parade and it is a very festive event. I am not sure how many people show up to the park, but there are a ton. I suggest bringing a small grill, a cooler, and couple of lounge chairs and make a whole day of it. We also have a great Fireworks display!
Thanks for the compliment on the website. It is only going to get better!
Take care

Look for our truck “float” in the parade. We will be handing out t-shirts, frisbees, and (hopefully) ice cold water during the parade. Doug & I will be looking for you, please introduce yourself. It should be hot, but a fun day for all. Welcome to Mira Mesa, and thanks for the input. Sincerely, Mark

Another major contributor to the Mira Mesa fireworks, and one that should be recognized, is the “Monster Manor” haunted house which contributes $5,000 each year to the Mira Mesa 4th of July Committee towards the fireworks.
For some reason the “Monster Manor” seems to get left out of any mention of contributors to the fireworks.

This is the first time in over 20 years that I will miss the event, I am sure that it will be a good one!

The fun day at the park is really great. My kids love it and have for years and they help participate in running some of the game booths and are involved with some of the entertainment as well. The entertainment is great very community oriented and young and old alike will love it.

Ah, the 4th of July.
It’s my favorite holiday because I get to spend time with my family but it’s not as stressful as Christmas or Thanksgiving.
Too bad most of my family is out of town. :/
I think this may be the first Fourth of July I spend with my friends…

This may be impossible to do…but, anyway to keep all the participants of the parade together. Year after year the parade seems to separate more and more near the end of the route. I am sure all the boy scouts, girl scouts, miss phil-am, and the liberal group that participate are very tired when the end is in sight. There are times when the participants are minutes apart.

The boys in Cub Scout Pack 1203 and the Brownies in Girl Scout Troop 8215 had a great time in the parade. Now we’re eating our barbequed hot dogs and anxiously waiting for the fireworks. We can hardly wait for next year!

How about those fireworks, Mira Mesa? They just seem to get better every year. They are always adding something neat and new. I Loved the ground level segment they did this year. Thanks for an awesome show for who ever put this together.
I’m starting to get through my shots for this years fireworks and parade and will be posting them on my smugmug site. Give me a couple days for the parade shots (better than 400 to go through), I have put some of last nights fireworks.

Andy… Wow, you take some nice photos!
Yes, the fireworks were the best I have seen in quite a few years. I heard nothing but positive things about them this year.
I added a video of the Finale that I took with my new little Flip Video camera for those of you that were not able to attend.
