Cub Scout Pack 1203 of Mira Mesa is looking for boys to join the Cub Scouts. There are programs for boys from 1st grade through 5th grade, and joining the Scouts is a great way to teach your boys about working as a group, achieving personal goals, and community involvement. Each stage of Scouts offers new and exciting activities at age appropriate levels. Each Scout Pack is made up of smaller “Dens” which are age appropriate. The first and second grade dens are fully functioning, while the third and forth grade dens need more enrollment. If you would like to get your children involved in Cub Scouts, now is the time to join.
The Cub Scout Pack activities include monthly pack meetings, several camping trips each year, participation in the Mira Mesa 4th of July Parade, easy hiking, field trips and other outdoor events. The Pack also conducts annual events where the Scouts get to race small boats (Raingutter Regatta) and cars (Pinewood Derby) that they build themselves. We offer a lot of opportunity for the scouts to experience and learn new things, earning awards along the way.
In addition to the opportunities at the Den and Pack levels, Scouting offers fun events at the regional and council levels including family camping, day camp during summer months, Scout Fair, boating and lots of other fun events. Now is the time to join as we prepare for 2009! Please contact our Pack Leaders for more information:
Cubmasters Ricardo Salcedo at (858) 271-8367 and Laura Mecalis at (858) 693-8566.
Cub Scout Pack 1203 holds their monthly Pack Meeting at the Ericson Elementary School the fourth Tuesday each month from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

There’s something for older kids called Venture Crew (http://www.scouting.org/venturing.aspx) that my friends are a part of. I hear they are in need of new members as well.
There was an article in the school paper about it but I don’t think it’s up on the school website anymore.
If you’d like more information I could probably ask.
