Please be advised that the southbound Interstate 15 (I-15) off-ramp to Mira Mesa Boulevard will be temporarily closed starting June 19 at 9 p.m. and ending June 22 at 5 a.m.
As part of the on-going I-15 Express Lanes project, the southbound off-ramp to Mira Mesa Boulevard is being reconstructed in order to widen the freeway and create the necessary space for two additional express lanes in the median. This closure is necessary in order to complete construction and pave the new off-ramp.
Construction workers will make every effort to minimize disruptions during construction. Should you have any question about this closure or construction of the I-15, please contact the I-15 Public Information Office at 858-668-3368. Click here to view full PDF.
Mira Mesa Farmers Market Coming April 21

Mira Mesa Farmers Market is Coming Soon! Efforts are under way to establish a weekly farmers market that will offer Mira Mesa Residents locally grown fresh produce, flowers, and a variety of other unique items from the front of Mira Mesa High School. There will also be booths available for crafts, food, and other specialty items for your shopping pleasure.
Many of our neighbors have been asking for a Farmers Market in our area, and thanks to the hard work of Brian Wissinger from the Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce, and Ron LaChance, who manages several Farmers Markets in San Diego County, this will become a reality mid-April. A portion of the profits will directly benefit the Mira Mesa High School Foundation, which also have been helpful in assisting with the creation of the Farmers Market.
The proposed opening day is April 21, and will feature music, food, entertainment and some great deals on locally grown produce. The Mira Mesa Farmers Market will be located on the corner of Mira Mesa Blvd. and Reagan Road each Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. during the summer season, and 3-6 p.m. during the winter. Buy with confidence! This will be a Certified Farmers Market.
You can become a Certified Farmer/Producer and sell your products at our Farmer’s Market.
The San Diego County Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures will certify local gardeners/farmers to sell their produce at farmer’s markets:
o In most cases, only three (3) plants or trees of same produce are required to participate;
o What is a Certified Farmer?
Inspectors from the Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures inspect farms and other properties to verify what is raised or grown there. After satisfactorily meeting the requirements of the inspection, the farmer is certified for specific products. This certification allows the farmer to sell his produce at Certified Farmers’ Markets.
o Go here for information and to download your Certified Producer application package – http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/awm/farmers_markets.html
We will have more information as the grand opening date approaches. Spread the word to your friends and neighbors, and let’s make the Mira Mesa Farmers Market a huge success! To apply to become a vendor, check this link at the Mira Mesa Farmers Market.

The Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce September meeting was another success. Local merchants, business managers, and community leaders met at Mimi’s Cafe and are the Charter Members of the Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce.
Guest speakers at the meeting were City Councilmember – Elect Carl DeMaio, and our own Town Council President Jeff Stevens. Both showed enthusiasm and support for the newly created Chamber, while outlining the unique ways the efforts of the Chamber can benefit both the community and the local businesses.
Carl De Maio gave a passionate speech about how he plans to make a difference in City Hall and represent District 5, and he pledges “to continue to serve as the eyes and ears of the taxpayers on the City Council.”
He fielded questions, and also invited Mira Mesa business members and residents to a public “Town Hall” dialogue on reforming the San Diego City Council that will take place on Wednesday, September 10, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Scripps Ranch Library, 10301 Scripps Lake Drive. This meeting will feature Councilmember Donna Frye and Councilmember – Elect Carl DeMaio, and several City Council members and City Council candidates will also be on hand to directly hear from the public. Show up and let your voice be heard.
Mira Mesa Town Council President Jeff Stevens gave the Chamber an overview of the many things that the Town Council is accountable for, and how they affect the community. There is always a need for volunteers to lead the various committees, and participation in the many events that the Town Council runs to raise funds can be greatly enhanced by uniting with the Chamber of Commerce. They have pledged their support in what is a sure win-win relationship with the Chamber.
At the conclusion of the meeting, prizes were given out to members and guests that were drawn at random. Thanks again to Larry Marshall from Callahan’s Pub and Brewery for providing gift certificates for the raffle, and the Board of Directors for providing the other prizes. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21 at San Diego National Bank, 9400 Mira Mesa Blvd.(right next to In-N-Out Burger) at 6:00 p.m. If you would like to become a Charter Member, or to find out more about the Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce, visit their website at www.miramesachamber.com
