The topic of this meeting will be fire safety, and our second presentation will be from our Treasurer, Brian Wissinger of the Wissinger Financial Group, on the state of our economy.

The Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce September meeting was another success. Local merchants, business managers, and community leaders met at Mimi’s Cafe and are the Charter Members of the Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce.
Guest speakers at the meeting were City Councilmember - Elect Carl DeMaio, and our own Town Council President Jeff Stevens. Both showed enthusiasm and support for the newly created Chamber, while outlining the unique ways the efforts of the Chamber can benefit both the community and the local businesses.
Carl De Maio gave a passionate speech about how he plans to make a difference in City Hall and represent District 5, and he pledges “to continue to serve as the eyes and ears of the taxpayers on the City Council.”
He fielded questions, and also invited Mira Mesa business members and residents to a public “Town Hall” dialogue on reforming the San Diego City Council that will take place on Wednesday, September 10, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Scripps Ranch Library, 10301 Scripps Lake Drive. This meeting will feature Councilmember Donna Frye and Councilmember - Elect Carl DeMaio, and several City Council members and City Council candidates will also be on hand to directly hear from the public. Show up and let your voice be heard.
Mira Mesa Town Council President Jeff Stevens gave the Chamber an overview of the many things that the Town Council is accountable for, and how they affect the community. There is always a need for volunteers to lead the various committees, and participation in the many events that the Town Council runs to raise funds can be greatly enhanced by uniting with the Chamber of Commerce. They have pledged their support in what is a sure win-win relationship with the Chamber.
At the conclusion of the meeting, prizes were given out to members and guests that were drawn at random. Thanks again to Larry Marshall from Callahan’s Pub and Brewery for providing gift certificates for the raffle, and the Board of Directors for providing the other prizes. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21 at San Diego National Bank, 9400 Mira Mesa Blvd.(right next to In-N-Out Burger) at 6:00 p.m. If you would like to become a Charter Member, or to find out more about the Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce, visit their website at www.miramesachamber.com
