Mira Mesa is full of wonderful people who volunteer their time, money, and resources for the better of the community. Each year, the Mira Mesa Town Council painstakingly selects one outstanding member of our community and pays tribute to them for all that they do for Mira Mesa. This year we will honor Ted Brengel for his dedication, community support, leadership and friendship at the Volunteer of the Year Black and White Dinner Gala at MCAS Miramar’s Commissioned Officer’s Club from 6-10 p.m. on Saturday, June 6.

Mira Mesa Volunteer of the Year Ted Brengel

Ted Brengel has been the head of the Mira Mesa Community Planning Group for the past decade, and he is present at just about every community event, meeting, fundraiser, street fair and parade. Following Mike Davis, the former Volunteer of the Year, is no simple task but the Town Council has chosen the right man to do it. Please join me in celebrating the accomplishments of this outstanding community leader with a night of food, drinks, music and great stories.

Admission is only $25 per guest, and includes dinner, dessert and entertainment.
A no-host bar will be available. Social hour begins at 6:00, with dinner served promptly at 7:00. Several dignitaries will be present to honor Ted, and this will be a classy evening of dinner and dancing, so dress to impress. Guests are required to enter through the east “Miramar Way” gate, and each visitors name will appear on a prepared gate guest list. Make your reservations early to assure your meal choice and inclusion on the guest list.

Slide Shows from Chalk The Walk 2009

Chalk The Walk 2009 was more than just a great day at the park. The Mira Mesa Women’s Club hosted the Chalk The Walk event, and a great time was had by all. There were artists both young and not-so-young displaying their artistic abilities on the sidewalks surrounding the Gil Johnson Recreation Center, and we were even visited by a few Klingons (in town to promote the new Star Trek movie playing at the Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium 18 Theater) which was a hit with the kids.
We have included a few links to slideshows showing the various drawings and events that took place. Special thanks to Brian Wissinger for his pictures, and to Emman Cruz for his perspective on the fine art that was on display. For more information on the fine efforts that the Women’s Club provide to our community, please visit their website. We will see you next year for Chalk The Walk 2010!
