Dr. Sean Miller and TEAM Chiropractic strive for excellence through superior patient treatment, education, and patient satisfaction. We provide diagnosis and treatment for back and neck pain, work and auto injuries, in addition to diet and nutrition information to set you on the right path to a healthier body.

The first step on this path is your first visit. After filling out some brief paperwork, you will have a consultation with the doctor to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options. The next step is your history and examination, where a number of specialized tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.

Your specific condition may require us to take X-rays to either rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Once finished with the examination and all appropriate studies, patients will generally be provided with their first treatment during the same visit. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies.

Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1-2 days and are provided with a complete review of findings. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed during this time.

At TEAM Chirapractic, we gladly accept most health insurance. Cub Scout Pack 1203 of Mira Mesa is looking for boys to join the Cub Scouts. There are programs for boys from 1st grade through 5th grade, and joining the Scouts is a great way to teach your boys about working as a group, achieving personal goals, and community involvement. Each stage of Scouts offers new and exciting activities at age appropriate levels. Each Scout Pack is made up of smaller “Dens” which are age appropriate. The first and second grade dens are fully functioning, while the third and forth grade dens need more enrollment. If you would like to get your children involved in Cub Scouts, now is the time to join.

The Cub Scout Pack activities include monthly pack meetings, several camping trips each year, participation in the Mira Mesa 4th of July Parade, easy hiking, field trips and other outdoor events. The Pack also conducts annual events where the Scouts get to race small boats (Raingutter Regatta) and cars (Pinewood Derby) that they build themselves.  We offer a lot of opportunity for the scouts to experience and learn new things, earning awards along the way.

In addition to the opportunities at the Den and Pack levels, Scouting offers fun events at the regional and council levels including family camping, day camp during summer months, Scout Fair, boating and lots of other fun events.  Now is the time to join as we prepare for 2009!  Please contact our Pack Leaders for more information:

Cubmasters Ricardo Salcedo at (858) 271-8367 and Laura Mecalis at (858) 693-8566.

Cub Scout Pack 1203 holds their monthly Pack Meeting at the Ericson Elementary School the fourth Tuesday each month from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Top 10 List of The Best Super Bowl Commercials

January 26, 2009 by Mark Smith
Filed under Mark's "Because I Said So"

This Sunday is like no other for football fans, it is Super Bowl Sunday. Even if your favorite team has been eliminated, like my San Diego Chargers, you still can have a good time at a Super Bowl Party. There are a few things about this event that separate it from a typical Sunday Football day. For starters, you have the host site which goes to great lengths to showcase the city, and promote tourism. The weather sometimes can have an adverse affect,  unless you live in the host city and don’t want everyone moving there because other cities have horrible weather (see Pittsburgh).

The best thing about the Super Bowl from a home viewer’s perspective are the commercials. The fact that they spend over a million dollars for a thirty second commercial, you expect greatness. People talk about the commercials more than they do about the actual game most of the time. Here are my Top 10 Favorite Super Bowl Commercials:

1. Budweiser holds the record for consistancy. I will just say whether it is a group of frogs croaking Bud-Wei-Ser or the “WhaaaaaaSup” guys, they make us stop talking and watch their spots…even if you have a cold Coors Light in your hand at the time.

2. Coke ran the “Mean Joe Greene” ad in 1979
, but you can’t argue that this ad still holds up. The little kid in the tunnel gives Mean Joe Greene his coke, and in return Joe tosses him his jersey. Classic.

3. Pepsi had a beauty with the “Two Kids” staring over a fence as Cindy Crawford drinks her Pepsi. That ad would make you switch from Coke to Pepsi.

4. McDonalds “The Showdown” with Michael Jordan and Larry Bird
, where they had to call the shot in a shooting contest for a Big Mac. For a long time after this ad ran in 1993, people still would say the catch phrase “Nothing but net”.

5. EDS “Cat Herders”
was just so ridiculous that it was hard not to like it. Cowboys, rough and leathery talking about the difficult job of being a cat herder. Brilliant.

6. E*Trade – Money coming out of the wazoo.
Somewhat gross thinking about someone with money coming out of the wazoo, but it worked. We just love our potty humor.

7. Monster.com – “When I Grow Up” ad.
You would think the kids would say when I grow up, I want to be a doctor or race car driver, but they respond with “I want to be a brown nose” and “I want to be in middle management”. Sometimes the truth hurts, but it is still very funny.

8. Pepsi’s Diner ad (1995) where the Coke driver and the Pepsi driver sit side by side at a diner. They share pictures of their kids, while Get Together is playing on the jukebox. Then they trade sips of their drinks, and the Coke driver won’t give the Pepsi back. Things get ugly from there.

9. Master Lock ran an ad in 1974
where they shot a padlock hanging from the center of a target, and shot a bullet through the center of the lock, and the lock absorbed the blow and held tight. Simple, yet effective advertising.

10. Budweiser Clydesdale commercials.
They tug on your emotions, and they get better each year. They are the King of Beer Advertisers.

Those are my favorites, what are yours? Don’t forget to watch the Super Bowl this weekend, and keep an eye open for the best commercials this year. Watch the video of the Top 10 Super Bowl Commercials from 2008 here on MiraMesa.Com.

The Fresh & Easy Store in Mira Mesa Launches Program to Raise Money for Local Schools

Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market today announced the launch of a school fundraising program throughout Mira Mesa called ‘Shop for Schools.’  Schools that have registered for the program will be eligible to receive a $1 cash donation for every $20 spent at a local Fresh & Easy store.

All eligible schools with students in kindergarten through 8th grade within a three-mile radius of a Fresh & Easy store can participate in the program.  Shop for Schools will run from February 1, 2009 through March 31, 2009.  Eligible schools have been sent a registration form to participate in the program and must register by January 23, 2009.

Registered schools will mobilize parents and students to shop at Fresh & Easy and then collect and submit receipts for verification.  Fresh & Easy will cut a check to the school for the amount raised.  The money raised can be used for whatever the school needs most.  For more information and rules and regulations, visit freshandeasy.com/shopforschools.

“With school budgets in Mira Mesa increasingly under pressure, our customers are looking for ways to help raise money.  We created Shop for Schools to be part of the solution and give back to the neighborhood,” said Fresh & Easy District Manager Alec Meyer.  “The money raised can be used on whatever each school needs most – like books, sports equipment, instruments or computers.  The more customers shop at Fresh & Easy, the more money they can raise for their schools.”

There are currently 55 Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets located in California.

About Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market
At roughly 10,000 square feet, Fresh & Easy markets are smaller than the typical supermarket to give customers a faster, easier shopping experience.  In addition to fresh, high-quality prepared meals and produce, Fresh & Easy offers everyone’s favorite national brand products and household items, all at budget prices.

Each store employs approximately 20-30 people.  All Fresh & Easy employees are given the opportunity to work at least 20 hours a week, which ensures everyone is eligible for comprehensive and affordable health care.  Entry-level positions start at $10 an hour in California, with similarly competitive salaries in other states, and offer a quarterly bonus of up to 10%.

More information regarding Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market can be found at www.freshandeasy.com.

DeMaio Proposes Tax and Regulatory Relief for Small Businesses
Unveils a Four-Point Initiative to Support Local Job Creation and Retention

Monday, January 12, 2009

SAN DIEGO –City Councilmember Carl DeMaio today unveiled a four-point proposal to support San Diego’s small businesses and self-employed in the midst of a difficult economy. DeMaio’s “Small Business Tax and Regulatory Relief Proposal” includes 1) Tax Relief, 2) Compliance Education and Outreach, 3) Public-Private Partnerships, and 4) Regulatory Relief.

“While politicians in Washington DC are focused on federal bailout packages for Wall Street and big business, no one is focused on Main Street and small businesses. That’s why I’m proposing the City of San Diego enact a small business tax and regulatory relief package by April 15,” commented DeMaio.

DeMaio outlined his plan at a press conference where he drew attention to complaints his office has received regarding the city’s Business Tax Certificate and Rental Unit Business Tax programs. Approximately 75,000 business tax certificate holders are small businesses, comprising 92% of all certificate holders in San Diego. As some San Diegans are laid off from larger corporations, many are turning to self-employment to make ends meet—requiring them to pay this tax.

Most San Diegans are not aware of these two tax programs—and many small businesses and property owners are just now learning they are non-compliant. Due to new data sharing program being used by the City Treasurer, thousands of San Diegans are being sent delinquency notices—complete with late fees, penalties, and surcharges. Over 90,000 rental unit business tax unit notices were mailed January 9, with many hitting San Diegans’ mailboxes today.

“Imposing fees and penalties is not the way to support the economy here in San Diego. The city should foster a more jobs-friendly and service-oriented environment,” commented DeMaio.

DeMaio’s proposal calls for the review of a hybrid tax amnesty/tax holiday program modeled after successful programs utilized by Los Angeles and Anaheim. Los Angeles expects to actually collect more revenue as a result of the program to cover its looming budget deficit.  Anaheim incorporated innovative partnerships with its local Chamber of Commerce and utility company to support the success of its small businesses.

DeMaio, who has set balancing the city’s budget as his top priority, is confident a tax relief package can be implemented that would be budget neutral—while supporting job creation.

T Shirt Advertising on MiraMesa.Com

Advertise your business for the cost of 2 t-shirts!  That sounds too good to be true. But I have always believed in the saying that truth is stranger than fiction, so let’s give it a try. Here is the deal:
Send us 2 t-shirts (t’s, polo style, or Hawaiian, it’s your call!) and we will model them for you in various locations around Mira Mesa. We will wear one of the shirts, and we will give the other one away in a future promotion which will also give your business exposure.

This is a win-win situation, since we live and breathe Mira Mesa, and we are very comfortable in t-shirts. What have you got to lose? Snoop around the merchandise closet, and shoot us a couple. The boss isn’t always around anyway. If you are the boss, disregard that last comment, but look at this as a very inexpensive form of advertising. We are bound and determined to help Mira Mesa Businesses promote themselves, and have a lot of fun in the process.

Want to save on shipping costs? We will even come to your business to pick them up. We are always available to stop by and say hello to our friends in business. We are big ol’ boys, and cannot possibly fit into anything smaller than an XL. Be the first on your block to promote your Mira Mesa Business directly to Mira Mesa Customers! Use the contact box to get us your information, and check out the featured T-Shirt Business each Wednesday!
