The Mira Mesa Women’s Club is sponsoring another fundraiser for Emily Rose Bare this coming Monday March 3rd at Callahan’s. The Bare Family needs our help. Their daughter, Emily Rose Bare who is nine years old was diagnosed with Cancer on January 2008. She has Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in the left arm and it has spread into her lungs.
The family does not have medical insurance, so the Mira Mesa Women’s Club has taken it upon themselves to help raise money for the family. They have teamed up with Callahan’s Pub & Brewery this week and are having a fundraiser on Monday March 3rd from 3 PM to 11 PM. All you need to do is bring the attached flyer with you to Callahan’s between those hours on that day and 15% of your purchases will be donated to the club for Emily Rose. Lee Doxtader and Scott Stamp the owners of Callahan’s will also honor the flyer at their other two restaurants, San Diego Brewing Co. and Jose OReilly’s. So if you know anyone that lives close to those restaurants, please let them know about the event.

Top 10 Guy Movies
February 2, 2008 by Mark Smith
Filed under Mark's "Because I Said So"
New week, new list. I was talking to a friend the other day about being punished into watching “Beaches” one time by an old girlfriend. This lead me to either write about the ten best guy movies of all time, or the 10 best chick flicks of all time. The fact that I am a dude will sway the vote to list my 10 favorite guy movies. Here they are:
1. Caddyshack
2. Animal House
3. Blazing Saddles
4. Pulp Fiction
5. Godfather (part 1, part 2)
6. Starwars (the first one issued, volume 4 in the series)
7. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
8. Brave Heart
9. The Usual Suspects
10.Shawshank Redemption
Now, I know there are far too many great movies to stuff into a top 10 list, but I used as a guideline movies that I could watch over and over again, or they had such great quotes that I still use them frequently. I can’t think of another movie that used Fresca for an ad placement than Caddyshack. That’s just awesome. “How ’bout a Fresca, hmm, huh?” Ted Knight is my hero. Have fun with your list… I am looking forward to Jennifer’s 10 best chick flicks ( or feel free to list your favorite guy movies!)
Mira Mesa Dot Com is Under Construction

MiraMesa.com is undergoing a major overhaul and you will see lots of changes in the upcoming weeks. We have decided to go with a blog theme vs. the way the site use to be. This (hopefully) will make the site much more personable and more enjoyable to read, as well as make it much easier to update the content.
We do need your help on a few things though…
1) Please sign-up for our Newsletter. The more subscribers we get, the better deals we can get for you from local merchants. Just fill out the form over on the upper right side of this page. We plan on giving out lots of great prizes (t-shirts, gift certificates, etc…) to randomly drawn subscribers, so sign-up right now!
2) Please leave a comment below letting us know what you would like to see on this site. This site is for the residents of Mira Mesa and anyone who works here or visits, so please give us your suggestions. You can also send us email via the contact form if you prefer.
3) Let us know what is going on in Mira Mesa. I am basically running this website by myself right now and there is no way I can keep up on all the things going on in Mira Mesa. So please send me any and all news or announcements and I will do my best to get it on the website.
More to come…
